Oh yes, another "will I get approved?" thread ![]()
I've been waffling about financing for a long time now. I really want a car but don't want to be denied. I finally wrote down on my calendar that I'm going to try on April 30th.
Credit score is 650.
Have a bankruptcy and a repo from 2007
And a few other smaller things, but nothing bad in the last 2 years.
$5000 down. Looking at a 20-25k vehicle.
55k income. Have 2 credit cards with less than 15% balance, and those are pretty much all I have going right now outside of the bad stuff from a few years back. Renting, so no mortgage or anything.
I'd like to think that with $5,000 down, it would be cake. That would be nice, as I'm currently in a rather sad 1998 VW Jetta. The dealer states they work with poor credit.
The interest rate may be on the high side but I don't see why they couldn't approve a loan based on this.
Thanks for the reply
I don't mind a high interest rate (I might regret saying that) as long as I can actually get approved and start rebuilding credit.
If you can wait until the repo falls off you won't have to pay crazy rates... even if you can wait 6 months, do a secured loan and pay it off for 6 months to re-stablish positive installment history... your rate on the new car will thank you.
Otherwise, I'm sure you can probably get approved at the dealership, especially with DP and trade in.
