Can the loan amount that you're pre-qualified for, only be used for the cars that are listed on their auto navigator site? And even if a dealer participates in auto navigator, they designate only specific models that are eligible?
And secondly, is the price that is listed for the car final (or around that ballpark)? The reason I'm asking is because the car I'm interested in is somewhat limited (for an economy car) and some dealers have been known to put crazy dealer markups on them. Just want to make sure that it's not the case where I'm pre-qualified for enough money, show up at the dealership with the prequal letter, and they'll be like, "oh btw, we're going to add 10k to the listed price". I assume that the dealer agreeing to be a part of auto navigator, that they can't pull stuff like this? Because if they are allowed to do this, then how would the consumer know that his/her loan approval amount is good enough ahead of time?
Ok, so reading their site, it looks like as long as the dealer is a participating member, you can use the loan, even though the specific model isn't shown via the auto navigator site search.
Can anyone confirm this, that they used the cap1 loan at a participating dealer for a car that wasn't necessarily listed on the cap1 site?
Yes, they will allow it sometimes. When I have used the auto navigator before they sometimes will not show something that the loan value does not match up with the price the dealer wants or sometimes there internal search engine has not located it yet if its a new listing. They do have some limits on how old it can be and the millage of the vehicle. There are also a few discontinued manufacturers they will not lend for like saab. They used to have the fine print on the website but I do not see it. If the dealership is a participating member they should know what they will go for.
