On here, myfico.com, my equifax credit score is 692. On experian.com, its says 635, and on creditKarma, com (Iknow they arent that accurate) it says 646. My primary question is with regards to the differences between equifax and experian, how come there is such a gap? I looked on both reports, and I do have ALOT of inquires, because I was young and dumb lol but theres a lot more on experian so thats what I'm thinking is the reason. I've always been turned down by auto lenders, but I think if they could see my equifax, I could get approved, but it seems like they all look at ex! I'm in southern california, are there any lenders that only pull eq? Or what should I d to better balance the two out? Thank you all in advance, I really need a vehicle and I would rather not go throguh santandar. Thanks!
Two reasons why scores vary across the board when ytou are looking at reports from different CRAs:
1. Some TLs being reported to one CRA may not be reported to another. Also, each CRA has a diferent statistical model which leads to variance; though not as major as yours.
2. As you said, there are more inquiries on one report than on another and therefore the variance. Although, when you are credit shopping, most CRAs usually stack and treat multiple hard inquiries for the same type of loan made within 14 days as one single hard inquiry. If you are shopping for a mortgage and a car loan within the same period of time, no matter the number of lenders you check in with, you will just have 2 hard pulls over a period of 14 days.
And the primary reason you are seeing a difference is the score you are getting from Experian is their own score and not a FICO score. The Vantage score used by the credit bureaus , or whatever else they sell as an "Educational Score" does not use the FICO algorithms to compute a score. The Experian FICO score is unavailable to most consumers unless you apply for credit and the creditor discloses it to you.
