DCU auto financing

Hello,
I'm looking to find a credit union to finance a vehicle. I came across DCU on here and read positive reviews. The last month I've been establishing my credit and since then my score jumped 84pts. But this is based on CK vantage score. Once my subscription is verified, I should know my fico score. Could anyone confirm the process of DCU membership and/or applying for their auto loan?

Re: DCU auto financing

Love DCU, financed my last two cars with them. They are easy to deal with. If you search on this forum you will see that they will usually do a double pull of you Credit when they approve you for membership and any type of loan. YOu don't really need a very high credit score to qualify for their best rate. Like I said do a search on DCU on this site and all the info is there.

Good Luck

Re: DCU auto financing

Fee,
Nice ride you got there!

For those who are members or previously applied. Would you suggest applying for an auto loan first to see if I get approved or apply for membership first? Would like to avoid unneccessary HP. I also read from years back DCH goes a little crazy with their HP, not sure if that's the case now.

I'm only hesitant because I'm currently using a po box as a residents address(due to unforeseen circumstances) which I don't think is considered a "real" residency. Po box is listed on my credit report but would hate to be declined due to not being able to show proof of utility bill of some sort.

Apply for the auto loan first.

In my experience, they did not initate more HP's for my membership, and even gave me a Visa card on the same HP I used for the auto loan. Three products for one HP. When I initiate another auto loan with them in a few months, I will use that HP to get an increase on my Visa at the same time.

Once your loan is approved, they will tell you to open a membership, make your $10 donation, and $5 opening balance to your share savings account. FYI, stick $1,000 in this account - it's the only thing that pays 5% interest on the first $1,000 so easily.

Re: DCU auto financing

Just talked with them and they said you need a 730 for the best rate. Not bad.

Would you happen to know if I can qualify for direct deposit just by transferring money from another bank into DCU? Or do you just do real direct deposits from your employer?

Re: DCU auto financing

Not sure if DCH offers gap insurance or extended warranty but has someone purchase that coverage?

Re: DCU auto financing

They pull EQ 05, which is an older scoring model that was used primarily for mortgages. I purchased gap coverage on my vehicle for $295 which was 1/3rd of what my previous lender charged for gap coverage.

To get the extra .5% off it has to be “really” Direct Deposit
