Forget the car loan ~ do you have financing lined up for your parking space ?? ![]()
All kidding aside, what previous installment loan history do you have - had a previous car loan ?

You might be pushed into a higher interest rate since you don't have any previous auto or installment loan history ~ unless you are putting a lot of money down. How long is your credit history in general ?
I would recommend talking to a local CU or bank to see what they can offer you in terms of interest rates before you go to the dealer.
+1 - Get your financing first. Your local CU is your best bet, with USAA coming in a close second, if you're a member. You'll avoid the pile of inquiries that you get from a dealer finance department, and get a step up in your negotiations.
It's so much better going in if you know the car you want, the price it should be, and what your payment will be. Then all you have to do is negotiate price.
Also, if you are buying new, make sure you check our the Costco car buying site and the USAA car buying site - you get some nice discounts, especially against the previous model year . You can also check those web pages and use the info in your negotiations with the dealer.
Good Luck!
