Getting 0% with Ford Motor in CA?

Hi Everyone,

We have a piece of cr$# Toyota Tacoma (horrible truck defected!).  Any ways, since we recently had a baby we wanted to get into something a bit safer and more sturdy.  My current car (BMW lease) is under my husbands name, and we wanted to get a new Ford Truck under my name.  For the most part all of our debt including mortgage, credit cards are in his name.  I do have about $6k in total credit available, and one loan from my CU that started at 20k and now down to 2200.  I wanted to know what were the chances, or if any one had experiences on getting approved for the 0% promotions that Ford has?

I unfortunately do have one credit card that has a credit available of $2k (my highest limit) but has about $1900 charged on it.  I am not sure if I was to at least pay half of that down if that would help prior to getting pre-approved.  My ficos are below, have been working hard to get the baddies out of my reports.  I started out with 11 of them yes on 11 accounts, and now down to 4 only.  They include 30,60, and 90 day lates from Cap One, GEMB (Howards card), and Target card!  I also filed for Bankruptcy which was discharged on 04/2002 so still need another year and a half before that falls off.  The Bankruptcy was due to medical bills.  The lates are going on about 2 years now, and since then have had a clean credit report with the exception of carrying a high balance on that one Visa.

Finally, I could get someone with great credit to co-sign as well.  Not sure if that helps the chances of actually getting the 0% financing?  Any help or suggestions would be great, thanks! Oh yea I have been at my job for 9 years now, and make about $66k on my own, total family income is $175k a year.

650 should get you there for the 0%.

I would not tell them you could get a co-signer until they just can't do anything... they love to throw a co-signer in if it's iffy and they don't really always need it.

I would be very clear up front that you are looking to finance this on the 0% and if you can't get the 0% I'm not interested, that way they won't start bouncing your credit all over the country looking for a loan.

I would also bring your most recent reports from myfico with you... they are probably going to pull auto-enhanced which you can't get on your own, but if they try to throw out some low ball credit score, you can pull your reports out and maybe get them to pull a different report if they didn't pull at least 2 to begin with.

oh and that made me think about it, ask them what reports they are going to pull first before you apply... don't be afraid to tell them your best is on TU if you could pull that.
