How important is to check your FICO score often

Just FYI: what could happen to you! (It did happen to me.....)

I had 42 mo. lease on Audi Quatro. 1-week prior expiration of the term I drove the car to dealer and returned. No problem here.

Then approximately 2 mo. later Audi Financial mailed me the settlement. They charged me for missing manual(!) and over mileage. I was aware about that and more or less agree to it. I received the bill little bit late, since I was 3 weeks on vacation and it was waiting for me in the mailbox. I come back home just in time to receive phone call from Audi, so I ask them if they accept CC, yes they did and I paid the bill in full.

2 weeks later came shock. My FICO score dropped 160 point in one day.

It turns out, that credit agencies interpret that LAST maintenance payment as additional payment on the lease, only it was classified as 3 mo. DELIQUENT! No one really cared that car lease was clearly stated as for 42 mo. and there was already 42 payments on the record in GREEN.

It took me couple months to clear it and FICO score was returned to the previous value. But it was headache and I lost lot of time.

So be carefull, when you end car lease! ;-)

Sucks that you had to deal with that OP but thank you for sharing your situation as it may serve to help others in the future.
