How many payments to make before trying to refi?

I called Ascend credit union and they ran some numbers over the phone and said they think they can refi and save me $100- $150 on my monthly payment so we are going there on monday to check. They offer 110% over retail and I would have to pay a difference of $400 so thats a great deal and a much lower payment.

I refinanced before my first payment was due. I saved 2% on the interest rate. There is not set time frame but if you're paying a high rate, the sooner the better. Pull all of your scores from here and see if you've gone up. Figure out what scores the lender you're interested in uses. Then go from there.

I would recommend refinancing as soon as you can through a credit union- they've always offered me the best rates, even before submitting my first payment. I had a friend run into issues with being upside down in an auto loan becuase they waited to refinance and the vehicle had lost significant value over time.
