How to refinance

Hello,

I have a car loan for 16,500 at an outrageous APR (22.9%) My scores are a little higher than they were when I originally got the loan. Eq. 579 Trans: 610, Exp. 645 Does anybody have any suggestions on some banks that will maybe just pulll my Exp report so I can get a better rate?

PSECU... think that's right, look in the credit card section and you will find it under you to can get your EX Fico.  I'm in the process of applying for account with them so I can try to refi my 17% car loan!

Credit union is going to be your best bet though for sure.

Stop:

please understand that when you refi a car loan the bank you are working with is still looking for a decent LTV (loan to value) on the new deal.

Unless you owe equal or less then what your car is worth it is not very likely you will get refinanced.  In many cases that means that you will have to put a large amount down on your existing loan to make that difference up before you can begin looking to refi.

One thing I will ask is where did you get your scores? No one has been able to buy their own Experian FICO score since February of 2009. Creditors can pull Experian and also there is a CU in Pennsylvania that supplies that information to it's members only. You can only buy true FICO scores at a few places. One place is here at myFICO. I suggest you do an internet search for "myfico discount codes" to save a little money. You can also purchase your Transunion score at www.transunioncs.com. At www.equifax.com EQ will still sell you an EQ FICO score but they make it very hard to find.
