I could have walked away from the deal, but I got no GAP and no extended warranty either. All details worked out via email and a few phone calls. I wasn't desperate I just knew I could get what I want.
The interest rate did go up slightly so what, it went up again, the bank changed, oh well. The Ford dealer couldn't get me through Ford Credit so whatever, I was going to go sub-prime anyway.
I can re-fi the car, that does not concern me. What concerns me is paying the negatives so either of my CU's will take the re-fi which they will and said as much as long as I take care of the issues the underwriter doesn't like.
I would post a picture but my cheap Android phone takes crappy pictures. They don't look so bad on small cellphone screens but blown up, yuck. I even made some money on this trip by doing a reset in Paso Robles.
This is the second time somebody has said I wasn't willing to listen to advice. The reason it only seems that way is because I am steadfast about driving manual transmissions and not buying one of the three boring Japanese brands.
I paid $15,704 OTD, the Ford dealer wanted to charge me $16,xxx for a stripper Fiesta, that is no contest. Hyundai's won't hold it's value as much as other cars because of public perception which is FLAWED.
There was no other choice under $15-$16K. I see no reason to buy something cheaper because it would have less power and fewer amenities. Given American proclivities to buy automatics doesn't help things.
This is the most "fun" you can have for $15,7K and still pull down 35 MPG. My average was beat up by a few jaunts around Tacoma, Washington, Rush Hour Traffic in Sacramento and ridiculous foggy conditions just south of Lathrop.
I cut across CA-41/CA-46 to make to work 20 mins early even with the delays and stopping for fuel/food/bathroom.
So that's 1,023 miles total including my trip back home and about 16.5 hours of drive time and very little sleep (maybe 5 hours total in 48 hours).
Left my house at 5:19am on Weds; I've either been in-transit or standing up since that point, until now of course. Besides the hour or so I sat with my friend in Tacoma, the three and half hours at SLC for a layover and getting it wrong in Downtown Seattle, I think I made out pretty good.
I hit the dealer at around 7:30pm (Delta hit the ground at 1:45pm). As I said mistakes with Seattle's public transportation caused about 90 mins worth of delays which is why I am GLAD I have a car now.
They had semi prepped it already, we left to fill it up down the street. We finalized the insurance, I went into the F&I office, for about 20 mins. He was honest and said he couldn't get an extended warranty into the deal, I refuse GAP and that was it.
I was on my way to Tacoma by 9pm
Say whatever you want, I am quite pleased with myself. I am only sharing this (because I don't have to) to encourage others to get whatever it is they need done, DONE.
fantastic... congrats that it all worked out for you.

Can't find the card reader for my point n shoot, so I pulled out the Infuse 4G which still takes pictures ten times better than my cheap Android phone that's standing in for my broken screen Optimus G.
