Issue with auto loan and a recent name change?

My wife finally got around to submitting everything to get her name changed. (We were married last November... just took her a minute!)

so she now has a new license and SSC.

we had been looking for a 3rd vehicle and submitted loan apps last week where we were pre-approved through Bank of America.  We had plans this weekend to travel out of town and look at a vehicle, but after speaking with a BoA loan officer today and increasing the loan approval amount by $5000, I received a declination letter due to an "issue with verifying my wife's identity"

Is this a common issue?  We are assuming it has everything to do with the recent name change, but figured an extra document (e.g. the marriage license) would clear that up... but I guess not.

should we try again at another bank with her maiden name on the app?  At least then it should match her current credit report?
or will we need to wait a couple months for everything to report?

Re: Issue with auto loan and a recent name change?

Just checked both of our credit reports and under "personal information", both her maiden and married name are already listed, so I don't see why that could have been the problem?

I checked mine just in case it was a problem there and I do see that my sons name appears under the "also known as" column.  Could that possibly be what triggered it?

just weird that the loan had been approved last weekend and then the day before we make a trip, it gets denied.

For reference,  her score was 733 and mine 714 attempting to get a loan for $40,000
