Lowest limit auto loan?

I need to buy a truck..

I need a 2wd standard cab 1/2 ton pickup with 100k-150k miles..

I want one with dents and superficial rust so that value is already gone and won't be lost on my end..

Probably a truck from the 90's.. $1000-$2000 truck..

Will anyone give an "auto loan" for something like this for say $500-$1500?

Since I need the vehicle anyway and could probably use an "auto loan" on my credit report..

If no, What are the lowest bare minimums you know of for an auto loan for the least amount of $ and the oldest age of the vehicle?

What about loans on classic cars like old garage queens? Like if I wanted to an old 80's Porsche with good appreciation prospects that I could play with once in a while and watch its value grow? Should probably be a seperate thread for that, but who gives auto loans for cars that aren't within 10-15 years old?..

Re: Lowest limit auto loan?

Most of your captive lender's (Well's Fargo/Ally/etc) will have minimum amount financed amounts in the neighborhood of 5k-7500. Credit union's will loan lower amounts, and on older/higher mileage vehicles. My CU will loan as little as $1000 on a vehicle, and do not care how old or how many miles are on the vehicle as long as your credit is good.

Finding a well-rounded CU will be your best bet for what you are wanting to do.

Re: Lowest limit auto loan?

That's a tough one, most people just pay cash for an amount that low. You could possibly go for a personal loan for higher amount. Pay for the car, and immediately pay down on the loan with the remainder.
