I've never really shared our "story" (we all have one, don't we?) here, but I'm so grateful for what I have learned from this community in such short time. DH and I have been rebuilding our credit the last couple of years, "gardening" before we even knew what that meant. I've been soaking in as much as I can from these boards and wanted to share a recent, mini-victory for us.
DH has some old baddies on his report, scheduled to fall off early next year. He was in dire need of a new vehicle but we've been holding off because we were so afraid to apply for an auto loan and either A) be rejected or B) pay an awful APR. Long story short, he applied for an auto loan through our bank but was initally denied. I followed the rejection up with a recon letter and an explanation of our credit history, and surprisingly, he was approved. At 4.9% interest!
I owe so much to this forum. For so long, DH and I have sat back and "waited" out the ramifications of poor choices in our past. Never in my dreams did I think that with a little research and a lot of persistence, we could actually clean up our credit and boost our respective credit scores from the high 500's to the high 600's in such a short time.
Really hoping to close 2014 and break into the 700's!
Congrats on the rebuilding success and recon !! Nicely done !! ![]()
