@Natethekidd wrote:So to understand all this correctly... Mortgage is due April 1st, *coming off a Deployment in March scrambled my bills quiet a bit so I pushed my mortgage payment back to the end of the month* I made my payment April 30th at 11:53pm central which would be considered next business day for the lender. Military has screwed me in the past with late paychecks so I've already submitted a goodwill letter last year in June. If your counting Calender Days from April 2nd (First day of being Late) to the 30th day that puts me at May 1st which would mean the 31st day wouldn't be until May 2nd correct? Just trying to get my ducks in a row in case I need to get my credit girl to start getting letters together.
@Natethekidd Yes, you're correct. If your payment gets credited today, you should be good. A 30 day late occurs once you have reached 31 days past the due date. In your case that would have been 5/2/2025.
Okay, so with a different lender (BMWFS) but same situation, I made the payment on the 30th day, (Due Dec 16th, Paid Jan 15th.) they are reporting me 30 days late to my credit. I resolved the Jan/Feb issue with them explaining the military not paying me until Feb 15th and my online account have me locked out. They fixed that issue (surprisingly because they don't do goodwill letters). But they then reported Jan for being a month late. Any kind of statute or law with the CRA or Fed. Law that I can bring up to help in this situation? Thank you in advance!

Unfortunately there isn't a specific section within the FCRA that mandates, or specifies when a creditor can report you late. Technically, and depending on what's in your account agreement, if the payment isn't received by the end of the30th day they can report you as 30 days late. I would try to determine when the payment was marked as received, and continue to plead for leniency until you find a friendly ear.
