Hello,

I looked under my offers and saw that I was pre-selected to refinance an auto loan.  My question is how can I refinance a loan that is under someone elses name?  My car loan is under my father(due to rebuilding), but the registration is under both of our names.  Can I refinance this so that it is just under my name?

How do they preselect?  Soft pull?  What CRA?  I was surprised to see I wasn't pre-selected for a CC.

Re: NFCU

. To refinance I believe the auto loan would need to be in both names otherwise it would be considered a new car loan for a used vehicle instead however it woulnd't hurt to call or send a SM to double check. I am not sure how they do their pre selected offers however I refianced my vehicle in December  and purchased my second vehicle in January both the used car loan and the blank check for my new vehicle they pulled Equifax. I had an answer on both within 24 hours. I was able to get the blank check over nighted to me and scan all my signed documents back to them. Hope this helps and Good Luck!

Re: NFCU

If your father is the primary borrower on the current loan then nothing can't be done without his consent.  He will probably have to be the one to initiate the the new loan because he's the primary borrower.  Now what you can do is find out the payoff on the current loan and apply for a auto loan and then give it to your father and he can pay off the current loan.  I would call them though and see exactly but I'm just going off information I know and have seen in life but as with anything, things are subject to change at anytime.

Call NFCU and tell them what you wish to do and see what they say. Everything is is pure guessing.
