Navy Fed Refinance

Hey there! I am wanting to refinance our vehicle with navy fed by the end of the year. Or at least it's what I'm hoping. I'll give you a run down. My husband had a Ford Escape that was a pile of crap and bascially stopped working. We had no choice but to trade this vehicle in and get a new one. We had to get a new vehicle because of his ford being upside down. We bascially got a crap loan from Santander because at the time, our credit was seriously terrible. We are not where we want to be just yet to try and refinance, but I wanted to know what to expect? Since we are upside down, will they want us to put down the amount we are upside down before refinancing? Also, does anybody know their standards? What fico score do they us to qualify? I don't mind putting money down to refinance, but want to know what to expect. We are bascially upside down about $10k. 😬 We are wanting to pay some of that down, but I'm not sure we will have all $10k by the end of the year.

Re: Navy Fed Refinance

Hi,

Santander currently has a class action lawsuit filed against them...the states involved won. Therefore, I would not do anything until you find out whether or not your loan has been included in the settlement. Check you state's Attorney  General website for details and to see if your state was included. If they are not included, then you should look into refinancing. Banks typically will finance a certain amount when negative equity is involved and/or require money down...each institution is different. Navy Federal is a great institution to work with.

Re: Navy Fed Refinance

I'm in Texas. We weren't included. ☹️ Thank you for the heads up though! I talked to somebody at navy federal today and have a plan to hopefully raise my scores and apply next year.
