I was just fully approved through BOA for a car loan and they didn't ask for proof of income. They might ask you once you pick an actual amount and car payment, because they will still pull your credit when you go for the full loan.
When I was buying my car, I applied at Capital One, DCU, and a local CU. Capital One was a soft pull and they approved me for 40k 3-8% interest depending on the car with no documents required. I called them because it seemed way too easy.
I ended up financing through Honda because they gave 1.9% interest, but Cap One was very easy.
None of financers asked for proof of income.
We just had out chapter 13 discharged and need a vehicle. Did you have any problems getting approved after your discharge and have soon did you apply?
