Hi! i had a miserable car loan through roadloans that i paid off early back in october. the audit roadloans did on my account resulted in a refund due to me. wonderful! they said wait 20 days. so i waited and waited and waited and finally went to their website to get their number to call.
surprise! they were bought by a company called santander in the same month i paid off the loan. so i called santander to see what was up. i got a whole lot of run around. first they said they didn't owe, then they said they did, 20 mins later i had to hang up because i was at work
should i bother with the frustration again? to be honest, i don't know how much the refund is.
also both santander and roadloans (triad) are reporting on my TU credit report for the same loan. no negatives for either one. could this be helping? hurting? doing nothing?
thanks!!
no red flag.
i also have bigger credit fish to fry. maybe i'll come back to this later
thanks!!
You may not have to fry this one, or even serve sashimi style. If there's no red flag, and if Santander is the OC, and there's nothing derog about it, then it added history to your CR. If this TL is older than your AAoA on any given report, then it is helping your FICO score.
not quite the oldest, probably in the middle somewhere.
i will step away from the frying pan
thanks for the help!

By no means I'm looking to hijack your thread but I have to share this quick story. I do business with Sovereign, a bank that was acquired by, yes, Santander. I contacted them recently about auto loans and they told me to go to roadloans.com to look for some good rates on loans. I didn't realize that roadloans deal with sub-prime lenders. They approved me for loans with a ridiculous APR at 20%. So I called to ask why so high when my credit score is in the low 700s. I asked them, where did they pull my score. They told me Experian. They lied, because I got an inquiry alert from my Equifax, and it was road loans. Then I get some unknown financial group contact me saying they received my application for an auto loan. I said how did you get my application? They avoided answering and simply said they assigned me to a dealer I had no interest in to begin with. I called Road Loans back and they said they do business with that company but didn't pass off my application. Lied again. Now I have some company spamming my email asking me to contact them to help me get a car.
It makes me wonder if I should continue doing business with my bank. I have been with them for 5 years with no issues until they got acquired. So your story about getting the run around doesn't seem odd in any way.
I hope you can resolve your situation. It sounds like you are owed money.

Our loan w/roadloans is a very nice interest rate for a used auto...like 10%, which was quite common when we bought it. Santander...P.I.T.A.
Just out of curiosity, what was your FICO score? Because they approved me to a 20% APR on a 14K loan!
