Most CU's have much easier terms for you to refi your loan, but they limit the amount they will finance based on your history/score and the collateral. Even if you were to sell your current vehicle at a better than trade in amount, you would end up having to bring cash to the deal to sell it. You are more upside down due to your rate, so more of your payment goes toward interest than principal. The original lender knew you would be in this deal a while. Do you have a source of funds you can access to pay down the balance? Like selling things you don't need around the house etc. Once you get the balance down, your options will really open up and you can get the car you want.
Ugh this sucks, I got bullied and sexually harassed (the salesman told me he "wanted to ::Explicative:: me" more than once) into this car and I would have never taken it if I wasn't so scared and wanting to leave so bad. Now I'm stuck for 6 more years.
Candy6,
I hope you reported this person to the sales manager. I've heard of flirting to make a sale, but the behavior you've described is unacceptable.

unfortunately i didnt. I have severe anxiety and I was a victim of sexual assault so I just tried to get away from him asap. Towards the end of the sale they switched me from the creeper salesman to another one and the creeper one got really nasty with me asking me "why did you let them do that?!" That creeper salesman has now since been fired for sexual harrassment.

+1... I've had the car salespeople act very inappropriately with flirting and crap towards me... its very creepy. I like my old man retired American Airlines worker salesman that I use now... the last time he called me on my car's anniversary I told Joe that I hope he was still around when it was time to buy the next one... he was like, "ya me too! I hope I'm not dead by then!"
Nice old man salespeople are great

Yeah, this is pretty terrible. When we first went looking for a car, my wife was pretty annoyed for a different reason and we ended up leaving. The salesman completely ignored her the whole time. He directed everything he said to me. Even when she asked a question, he looked at me for reassurance and answered to me. Good reason to get up and leave if any salesman makes you feel uncomfortable or upset. There are car dealers all over the place, and lots of them who won't act like this.
