I have a friend who just got stung by this. He was laid off but was on a recall list that would take place in a few months. He told the dealer this and the dealer says well we can take a previous W2 but that "special" ends tomorrow, this was last week.
Anxious to get a car he uses an old W2, the bank calls the job and they say he hasn't worked in months. So of course the deal is dead.
After hearing this I was like they wanted that sale bad, did they even discuss with the bank the fact that he was laid off but on recall, and also that W2 situation?
I never heard of using a W2 I always thought it was only a paystub.
So here's the good part, with that situation he lost his job because they assumed he was trying to cheat on his taxes because he handed in an old W2.

oh edited! hahahaahah sorry thats such bad bad luck. What can you do. If you dont work for someone who is reasonable, and would at least listen to a simple explanation is a start... Or his arguing skills aren't very good.

Your friend does not have a job. no one should be extending him credit. Its not a good decision.
The dealership crossed their fingers and figured they would submit the deal, see if the bank would verify and if not sell a car. The bank verified and the deal fell apart.
Was the dealership trying for fraud? no the person is laid off which means in many cases they still are "working" for the company just not getting paid.
they gambled it didn't work.
Yea I feel bad for my man because now his job ituation is screwed up.
I told him to see if he can talk to HR and explain his case that he wasn't trying to fraud the company.
