Re: New DCU membership - pre-approvals

Thank you -  Both a $5k CC and $35k auto loan was offered......  but I was only concerned with the auto loan -  but didn't accept the offer at time of membership because I was unsure of how they did their HPs and hoped I could get more data once I was active member.

"ETA SP CC offer."   I'm sorry, saw this after I replied but not sure what it references?

Re: New DCU membership - pre-approvals

CC would have been SP approval.

Auto loan I'm guessing would be hard pull? Offer to apply will always be there in loan suite.

DCU uses EQ5 and gives out free monthly score.

Re: New DCU membership - pre-approvals

SP = Soft Pull. Meaning, no hard pull inquiry.

Re: New DCU membership - pre-approvals

ok great, I assumed they would all be HP's and had read that the membership also used to be a HP so I just wanted to side with caution until my account was established then hopefully go back in and only get 1 HP hit for the auto loan pre-approval.....  but then after doing some more research I found out they no longer do the HP for membership at all and might only use 1 HP for items apped within 30 days......

.... and now know it is definately an EQ5.     Thank You!

Correct, membership is SP. So is initial CC offer.

Re: New DCU membership - pre-approvals

Just to follow up I contacted DCU today after having my membership approved yesterday...  they said I should have my online login info in 7-10 days as expected.   Then inquired about the 2 pre-approvals that appeared when I was finishing my membership application for the $5k CC and $35k Auto.....   they did not list the APR in the pre-approval offer and he said if I would have accepted them it would have required a HP and then I would see rates but if I wait until I can login online next week and accept them it should only be a SP.  He did mention to differentiate between the words "apply" and "accept" in the DCU loan suite.

He did mention that those pre-approvals will expire tommorw and new ones should populate after Jan 1.

Re: New DCU membership - pre-approvals

Sounds like I need me a DCU account, congrats to you. I'm going to get my scores up a little more before I try.
