OK ... here's my advice. Sell you house and pay your bills. Move inot a rental. You have assets to cover the debts you incurred. There ... that's my help.
I think that is EXCELLENT advice for her. If this is real (I am now questioning that...), I am not sure she will like the idea, but certainly a very good way out. There appears to be enough equity that she could sell the house, give her son his portion and use hers to pay off her debts. This would avoid the BK and all the all the stuff about trying to hide assets. She could live the other hosue that she says she owns or like you said, rent a place.
The car and house should be forced into a sale to pay these debts.
Sounds like a case of total denial or B.S.

It sounds like you want to eliminate your $125k in debt without losing anything of value or paying it. That's just not going to happen. I don't see the problem in selling your house to pay the debt and moving on.
Would u want to loose a home that ur son/daughter bought for you that's worth over $350K? I don't think so! U don't see the problem with that? R u blind dude? U stating that just pisses me off. People fall into hard times you don't know my situation and for u to go and say that was total BS. How about u move on with ur comments.
I would never put my family in a position to lose something they bought me. I learned the value of a dollar and how to responsibly borrow it. If you don't work why are you buying things. If the house is worth that much sell it, pay off your debt and use the rest to buy a cheaper house.
It starts with responsibilty both personally and financially. You lack both and now you're in a bad situation. Your situation, albeit extreme, is what is wrong with this county. Consumers just buying things with money they haven't earned to buy things they don't need. And based on your post it seems you didn't fall into hard times you put yourself there. Buying stuff on credit and not paying it is not falling into hard times so the sympathy card can't be played. You need to own up to your debt and do what's right. And hiding assets from a bankruptcy is not right. You have not earned the right to keep certain things while owing $125k.
+1000
Couldn't agree more.

Both? LOL
I guess that some folks come her for "advice" when in fact they're simply looking for others to validate their pre-determined actions. I've been through hard times like so many others ... but I accept reality, dust myself off and get back to moving forward again. Life happens while we are "planning".

I agree with this. No one "needs" a $350,000 house or a $40,000 vehicle.
I've gone through a bankruptcy myself, but OP's post still bothers me, with the sense of entitlement I'm seeing.
I fully agree. I am thinking that this was all made up, however if not, very sad that she has that mentality and it makes me ill to think what she is and possibly will be doing to her son.
I can only imagine her sitting across the table from the BK trustee with this mentality....
