Fight the companies trying to sue you, I was sued twice pre bankrupcty and I filed an affirmative defence (myself no lawyers) and "won" both time. The good thing about NYS is a Debt Collection Agency cann't sue you in NYS. Well they can sue you but can't win there is a statue which if you do "harm" to youself you can't seek damages. So basically them buying the debt from lets say chace they harmed themself. So they cant sue me for damages. They still both tried I submitted my response with that defence and the lawsuits went bye bye. I only ended up filing because There was no way I'd be able to climb my way out of the debt I was in with my job. Lost my good job and was making pennies compared.
