Hi all. Not sure if this is the best place to post this, but a friend of mine's boyfriend is wanting to get added to her Chase credit card as an Authorized User to help build his credit back up. His bankruptcy has been disharged. Chase was not included in his filing. I've read here that Chase can be difficult when it comes to bankruptcy being on people's files. Do you guys know if it will be a problem for her to add him as an AU? Thanks for any guidance provided.
He does not want to be on their radar while the bk is reporting. Chase blacklists for 10 years if bk is present. What I noticed was people have been able to get in after 7 years and it falling off their reports prior. Makes sense as when I was working at chase they kept records over 10 years. But, if someone applied for credit prior to the bk falling off, it wouldn't matter if they applied after it fell off if it was still within 10 years since chase flags you once made aware of the bk. So for me, I would not have anything to do with Chase until the bk falls off.
Oh very interesting, thank you for that response.
I wonder if it's getting too cute to add as an AU and then remove after maybe 1 year after getting his score back up. Anyway, thanks for your thoughts!
To be clear upfront - I have not tried to obtain a card from Chase post BK and I did IIB them. They had no problem giving me a car loan 2 years post discharge and are my main bank.
My wife added me to 2 of her Chase cards aftedischarge and they had zero issue.
Ok cool. I will pass that info along. I don't know his intentions re: getting a Chase card in the future, but if he's just intent on improving his credit only, the AU may be the way to go.
Thank you guys for the responses.

How long since you burned Chase? I asked because I burned them for a tidy sum in my 2015 Chapter 13 and got back in at the end of 2022.
Chapter 13:
I categorically refuse to do AZEO!

I'm thinking if you filed a Chapter 13 then you'll have a good chance getting back in early next year, however, I'm also thinking if you filed a Chapter 7 you may need to wait until 2027 before Chase is receptive to an application from you.

Chase only has a 1 year blacklist on auto loans.

Ya, it was a Chapter 7 so I have no plans on apping with Chase until the BK falls off my report.
