That is incorrect.   The public bk record itself will stay for 10 years, but any account included in BK can only stay for 7 years after DOFD.  That is FCRA law.    Dispute again saying this is too old, 7 years post-DOFD for your late item was 3/2008, so since it is now May, it needs to come off.    Call them if necessary and get a supervisor to get it deleted if you need to.

Re: Accounts Reporting, using the date that I filed BK. HELP!

I have two accounts that was sold to a collection agency after the BK.  It is reporting on my credit report.  I filed for BK in 2001.  So, who do I contact?  The collection agency?  The origianl creditor?  I tried disputing it with the bureaus.  All I get back, is that it is reporting correctly.  HELP!

contact them all and send in copies of your bk paperwork and discharge paperwork and tell them to get these fixed immediately.  I would contact everyone.   You might throw in a gw also and ask them to be removed entirely as well.
