I need some tips on locating a good bankruptcy attorney. What should I look for what questions should I ask? On the radio I heard a commercial for a law firm that offered $99 bankruptcy special. When I researched them on the internet there was a class action lawsuit from the state attorney generals office. Needless to say I crossed them off of my list.
The best way is through referrals from a friend who has had a positive experience wth their lawyer.
Other than that, Legal Match is a web service that helps people screen and hire lawyers. Your state bar association will also likely have a referral program -- most of the time the initial consulation is free. As for what questions to ask, you can get a lot of ideas from one of the publications put out by Nolo Press. They have excellent legal resource materials and can help guide you into asking relevant questions.
