Advice for locating good attorney!

I need some tips on locating a good bankruptcy attorney.  What should I look for what questions should I ask?  On the radio I heard a commercial for a law firm that offered $99 bankruptcy special.  When I researched them on the internet there was a class action lawsuit from the state attorney generals office.  Needless to say I crossed them off of my list.

The best way is through referrals from a friend who has had a positive experience wth their lawyer.

Other than that, Legal Match is a web service that helps people screen and hire lawyers.  Your state bar association will also likely have a referral program -- most of the time the initial consulation is free.  As for what questions to ask, you can get a lot of ideas from one of the publications put out by Nolo Press.  They have excellent legal resource materials and can help guide you into asking relevant questions.

Contact the bankruptcy clerk's office.  Ask for names of debtor's attorneys.  If you want somebody who does nothing but BK, ask for the name of a "bulk filer".  BUT, some of those guys are iffy, so check out their credentials.  Careful about someone who does everything under the sun.  A tax guy doing a BK is like me doing an oil change.  Messy.
