Little update:
Unexpectedly, AMEX emailed me this afternoon with the following:
"Our group is no longer handling your account. In the near future someone will be reaching out to you to provide you the information about the team that will be servicing your account."
"Will be"? (Weird language, so not currently working on it?)
They also named the account number and showed balance of $0.
They did not say WHO has it and I've never seen anything on my credit report from anyone else EVER. All the communications I've ever gotten have been from AMEX.
I emailed them back with my attorney's info (and emailed my attorney).
My very financially uneducated self wonders why TF its on my credit report of they dont have it anymore?
I guess I'll find out what my attorney thinks tomorrow.
Got my Ch 7 packet filled out yesterday and sent to my attorney.
I just need to supply pay stubs from earlier this year and either find the original or obtain a new social security card (I put it somewhere safe and now I don't remember where that is!). I also have to complete my credit counseling and submit a certificate.
My attorney said that the Ch7 will probably get filed at the end of the month or early September and that a paralegal has to draft a document and I have to review it. Has anyone had the paralegal contact them with questions, and what were they looking for?
I know I'm not "done" but it is comforting to know that I'm getting help with this! It has certainly affected me negatively in almost every aspect of life.

Yes my attorney paralegal reached out to me all the time. It was either requesting documents or updating me on my case. No need to be afraid of your attorney paralegal, they are there to help.
I hope everyone is having an excellent start to the week!
I guess I'm just in a holding pattern right now. I had to request a new SSC so they will mail it eventually. I still haven't gotten my pay stubs from earlier this year. My previous employer shuts down everything when someone leaves (this is a good thing) and so now the payroll people have to authorize me access again.
My attorney's office has been really good about responding to questions! I'm very happy so far. It was nice to meet them in person as well last week. I'm under 30 but can't imagine doing legal stuff over zoom only. That just seems weird!
My FICO is in the mid to upper 500s. I just looked at Credit Karma and they are around 615! That's so weird, but from what I read they are two totally different algorithms.
I'm enjoying reading this forum. Certainly learning a lot. I'm also keeping track of all my current checking accounts through YNAB.
I can't wait to see what all this does on the file date.
Excellent @DogwoodLynx ! Yeah I had to make a few trips even with the checklist. The paralegal uses a govt website I believe. If anything isnt right. Hello FM1? You and @Pway will be just fine. MOC was over before you know it. Hello fresh start!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Good morning, all!
All my documents have been submitted as of this morning (well, except for that dang SSC that is still in the mail, but I told my attorney about that already).
I also closed by checking and savings with Chime (Bancorp) as I really didn't need them anymore (and haven't for a while). Now I don't have so many different accounts with super low checking balances so that's nice. I designated the credit union one a savings account that I don't touch.
Still in a holding pattern it seems. Waiting on drafting and submission.
One step closer to being done with this stuff!

I totally understand.
I have to say, I'm really happy with my attorney's office so far. They have been great about answering my many questions and addressing my concerns. If anyone in the DFW, TX area needs a recommendation, I'll definitely give it.
This month has been a busy month so far. I just finished all my summer classes, I'm moving next week (yay! No more 45-minute commute to school!), I start an internship (unpaid) and start Fall classes at the end of this month. Someday I'll get a vacation!
Nice @DogwoodLynx . Anyday now you'll start getting alerts on whoever you have monitoring your credit for all the IIB comments popping up. You'll know then the file date has occured. Then its easy sailing to the MOC's. I've said for yrs. The MOC is faster than ordering a Big Mac in a drive thru. Then? DONE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

A week ago I got the myFICO basic plan but realized I should have just got the full package so I'm trying to correct it now with customer service (they respond quick!). I do like the layout of this website (even though I can only see one credit agency).
$40 is worth it to me! (and when the time comes that can be what I charge to my first rebuilder - thanks for that tidbit from the forum!).
I also have Credit Karma but if no one uses Vantage Scores, it seems kinda useless.
(And Wendy's is way better than Mickey D's!) lol
