CLI Request - Impact on Score?

I currently have two CapOne QS cards

Card #1: $3,500 Limit (this was a recent upgrade from a Platinum card)

Card #2 $5,000 Limit

I am gardening for the next 6 months before trying for Discover for my third card. In the meantime, I will let two recurring charges hit Card #1 every month totaling ~$320. This is JUST over 8.9% of the $3,500 limit.

I am thinking, if I could get a CLI on this card to say, $4,000 or $4,500, then I could let these two charges report every month while staying under 8.9%, then PIF.

Can I request a CLI from CapOne? If so, will this hurt my score?

Re: CLI Request - Impact on Score?

Capital One allows for the possibility of a CLI every 6 months per card. If it’s been more than 6 months since you last increase, go for it. It’s a SP and will not effect your score.

Just keep your expectations in check. Capital One is not always overly generous with CLIs and they will often deny if you haven’t been using a majority of your current limit.
