Cap One Forgiveness and NFCU graduation

Hello all,

I haven't been here in awhile since our BK7 discharge last year in April. Although my wife and I have a few unsecured cards with good limits, we went ahead and tried for Cap One prequalify tool and both qualified for their  Platinum! Prior to this, we would receive a reason of having one or more accounts in default with them, I can't remember the exact wording. We tried the prequalify tool every 2-3 months after discharge with no luck. Well they finally let us in this week before our 1 year discharge anniversary. We both received 3k to start and we both have 0 balances on our reports.

We both burned Cap One for thousands....

Also, Our NFCU secured cards graduated. My wife's graduated at the 5 month mark, mine graduated at the 6 month mark. They gave us 2k and our $200 deposits back.

Hope this gives others hope after a recent Bk discharge.

@AllZero @Thank you! From the discharge date, it seemed like it would take years before we noticed improvements, but time is doing it's thing for us. Still a long road ahead.

Re: Cap One Forgiveness and NFCU graduation

Great to hear!  My CH7 Discharge was in 11/2019 and I did a $500 secured card with NFCU a little over a month ago.  I did my first PIF right before the first statement date and will do that going forward; my hope is to have my graduate with a $3-$5K limit aound the 6 month mark which would be this June.

Re: Cap One Forgiveness and NFCU graduation

I have never seen anyone graduate with more or less than 2k at 6 months. Mine just graduated as well 2k and got my 500 back
