I called the trustee yesterday to confirm they got the last check, thus giving me a zero balance. She says everything looked in order and now it gets a final review and blessing by the court before they issue my discharge. I asked her about getting a secured card and she advised that we just wait a few days until the DC arrives in the mail. They consider secured cards the same as acquiring new credit so we can certainly wait a few more weeks.
Can't wait to begin our rebuild and I think we have a pretty solid plan thanks to some great advice I've learned here. 60 months has been a long road but it's the price we had to pay for putting ourselves in the position that we did. It won't ever happen again. Our entire outlook has changed after living on debit cards for the past 5 years. We used to look at credit cards as a way to get things we wanted to buy now... instead of saving for them. We realize now that credit cards are simply a tool to be used for acquiring high FICO scores for the best car loans and mortgage rates.
We will keep you guys posted as we start the climb. Right now MyFico is 633/576/615.
Congrats on making it so far, and best of luck as you move forward. You've already put in a lot of good work and it sounds like you're only going to continue.
Congratz on your Achievement!
When you actually receive the physical paper of the Discharge Order, you will get your next thrill.
Best Wishes!
Trustee said that everything will goto the court on the 26th and they turn them pretty quick. I spoke with NFCU yesterday and they suggested we start with secured cards even though we already have higher FICO's than many that are approved for unsecured. She suggested that we have seperate savings account there and that we apply individually for secured cards then add each other as AU.
My plan is to do NFCU secured, CapOne(unsecured but will do secured if necessry), Disco secured, and Achieva Credit Union secured. Achieva set us up with a $20k car loan at 6% DURING our CH13 because of our long relationship with them prior to filing. That loan is at 11 months perfect payment history.
My situation is similar to yours. I paid my Chapter 13 off early and I'm just waiting until the trustee does the final audit and prcesses the discharge. What state are you in? I'm in Illinois. Current FICO's are EQ-640, TU-573 and EX-611. Hoping and praying the discharge will give me a little boost. Each case is different.
Filed in FL, but reside in TN now.
Same boat here guys, final payment made in July, Trustee site shows case completed, trustee site shows refund entered (still wondering when that shows up) Pacer shows motion to deem mortage current has been signed also. Motion for discharge filed by trustee/lawyer on 9/29, finnacial management course done. Just chomping at the bit for the signed discharge to show on Pacer. Lawyer is saying 30-60 days...from filing date of 9/29 anyone have insight on an average timeframe?
We didn't have a mortgage complicating our Chp 13. Last I spoke with the trustee, she said all files for the month would be submitted to the court on Oct 26 digitally and they turn them in just a couple days usually.
Our scores are very similar. I cannot figure out what's going on with transunion. I cannot get the score to budge at all.
