Re: Chapter 13 dropped from my reports

Hey, did you burn any of these cards in your chapter 13? I included Chase in mine, but really want the Salphire card eventually.

Yes, I burned Chase for something north of ten-grand in my Feb-2015 Chapter 13 filing; they let be back in just shy of 8-years after I filed and I now have a total of three of their cards.  Here they are in order:

  1. Sapphire Preferred:
    1. Approved Date: Dec-2022
    2. Starting Limit: $11,700
  2. Freedom Unlimited:
    1. Approved Date: Jul-2023
    2. Starting Limit: $23,600
  3. United Explorer:
    1. Approved Date: May-2024
    2. Starting Limit: $8,000

As far as other revolving lenders I burned:

  • AMEX: I have applied several times for a Delta SkyMiles card, each application has been met with an instant denial due to previously closed cards; the only good news is no Hard Pull.
  • CITI: I applied only once, got an instant denial due to the previous accounts, and a Hard Pull; I will not be applying again.
  • Wells Fargo: Nothing they are offering has any appeal for me, that and due to the nature of my bankruptcy, which included a half-dozen cards in my name but which were applied for by my (now former) business partner, I (meaning he) burned WF for something over $150,000 across four accounts, none of which I was even aware of until the collection agencies started calling me, so I seriously doubt they'll approve me for enough credit to buy a pack of gum.

Chapter 13:

  • Burned: AMEX, Chase, Citi, Wells Fargo, and South County Bank (now Bank of Southern California)
  • Filed: 26-Feb-2015
  • MoC: 01-Mar-2015
  • 1st Payment (posted): 23-Mar-2015
  • Last Payment (posted): 07-Feb-2020
  • Discharged: 04-Mar-2020
  • Closed: 23-Jun-2020

I categorically refuse to do AZEO!

Yeah, it was a great feeling to see many of my scores skip the 700 range entirely and to have that chapter (pun intended) of my life behind me.

Re: Chapter 13 dropped from my reports

Ok, so there's hope. I burned them for about 6k and I've been an authorized user on a card for a few years now so that may or may not help eventually. I don't think I'll apply for Amex ever again or at least 10 years post BK. I didn't even owe them much, maybe 4K? But I know with them the amount is arbitrary and will be an instant denial. It's good to know they're soft pulls though.

There have been a number of anecdotal reports posted here suggesting if you burned AMEX for less than ten-grand, you have a pretty good chance of getting back in with them, especially after your bankruptcy falls off your reports.  In my case the number was closer to thirty-grand, so yeah, I probably ain't gonna get back in any time soon.

Is the NFCU Amex card excluded from the Amex blacklist since it is through NFCU? Great job btw

Re: Chapter 13 dropped from my reports

@CaneVariant  I was just wondering this myself since it's still given through Amex? @Horseshoez assuming it was excluded from BL?
