Discharged on 7/09/21 and it has updated in all three CB's.
Mortgage Loan - since 2013, always paid, no lates
Auto Loan - credit union (took out a loan with attorney advice against paid off vehicle so I wouldn't have so much equity). no lates
Capital One Platinum - applied 07/10/21approved for $3,000 limit.
Pottery Barn Credit Card - survived chapter 7 - $6,000 limit, always paid, never late, zero balance history since 2011
Relationship with Penfed - checking/savings no other accounts
Should I try for another card? Should I wait until I'm a year out of discharge and apply with Penfed for a credit card and just let the Cap One age. As of today, my scores EQ 615, EX 584, TU 524
Any advice appreciated.
First, congrats on the discharge! Seems like you are off to a good start, have you checked all the bureaus to make sure accounts are listed correctly ? The ideal amount of cards is 3 plus an installment loan of sort, the 3rd will help but up to you whether you get it now or a few months. Best of luck on the rebuild, I just celebrated my 1 year from discharge. The time flew!
I cannot wait until I'm one year past but happy that it's a new start now!! I did check all my accounts and everything is in order as far as zero balance and listed as IIB.
I have my mortgage loan and an auto loan installment so I should be good there. Unfortunately, the auto loan only reports to Equifax. I also have a $1,000 cash advance with my checking account that does report to all 3 cb's once you take any amount of advance and pay it back without interest as long as it's auto pay. I believe that will help as well if I would use it just so that reports to all 3 cb's.
Thank you for your support! I may try and get back in with a few cards I had that weren't burnt during the chapter 7 and had great credit history with them. I'm not sure how willing they will be able to do that but it's worth a try.
Just want to be sure I'm taking the right steps!
