You may still see a filing on your credit reports.  Not sure if the effects are as bad as a reglar BK but I would assume so if it hits the bureaus. If it is dismissed I would request the court remove it from the file

I believe that a dismissed bankruptcy affects your score as much as a discharged bankruptcy.  It shows on your report for up to 10 years from the date of filing.  The problem with the dismissed BK is that any creditors that you had protection from when you filed are no longer under any automatic stay and will resume collection activity.  The accounts that were IIB, now revert to the status prior to filing and collection efforts continue.  The accounts now may be reported as late, charged off or whatever the previous status was.

Brammy, how do you request the courts remove the record??!!??

I have a dismissed from 6/01/1998...will it be wise to just let if "fall off" as they say? All the creditors who were incld in it was from that area or before..so there 7 years sol are long gone. But the dismissed ch 13 bk still shows up.

A Chap 13 BK only stays on your record for 7 years from the discharge date, so I would write the CRA's and remind them that it should only be on your record for seven years and it's time to come off (send a copy of the discharge notice)

I wouldn't wait for them to get around to removing it from your record.

The BK wasnt discharged..it was dismissed...meaning I didnt go through or finished it. I came into some money and paid the creditors myself...but on my report its clear as day..Dismissed in the status section. I dont think I ever recived anything saying it was dismissed.

There is no difference between a dismissed or dischraged bankruptcy. They both affect the score the same
