FICO vs FAKO

Is the 1$ 3 bureau score deal from experian legitimate? Are the scores real? I am 1 yr post-dc from ch7 and it reports my scores as:

EX: 696
EQ: 713
TU: 676

I'm trying to put together data points regarding my secured discover not graduating yet and I want to make sure those data are accurate. Thank you!

Re: FICO vs FAKO

Is this from Experians website? It states that it is FICO.

Re: FICO vs FAKO

Yes, it is. I understand it does, but the bk7 to 700 thread left me suddenly second guessing myself. Thanks.

FireMedic1,

"There are NO other sites that you can pay for that will give you a true FICO score.  They all sell FAKOs and are even more worthless than FICOs.  They're not horrible to guage your rebuild compared to other people on a grading system, but the scores shouldn't be trusted.  Because this is a FICO sponsored forum, I'm not even going to mention them."

The first sentence. I'm sure I just overread it, but I'm keeping track of data points for my discover card and just want to make sure that when I post my scores are correct/true FICO scores.

Re: FICO vs FAKO

From their site-Credit score is calculated based on FICO® Score 8 model, unless otherwise noted. In addition to the FICO® Score 8, we may offer and provide other base or industry-specific FICO® Scores (such as FICO® Auto Scores and FICO® Bankcard Scores). Your lender or insurer may use a different FICO® Score than FICO® Score 8 or such other base or industry-specific FICO® Score (if available), or another type of credit score altogether.

You are definitely reading too much into that comment.  That statement was made back in May 2012 and the world of credit has changed significantly since then.  In addition to here at MyFICO, you can purchase your 3-bureau FICO 8 scores from Experian (note that CreditCheckTotal.com aka CCT is owned by Experian so they present the same info as the parent company).  Many credit card issuers will also provide you with monthly updates to either your TransUnion or Experian FICO 8 scores.   Equifax FICO 8 scores are nearly impossible to get without purchasing it from either MyFICO or Experian but some lenders, especially credit unions, provide Equifax FICO 9 scores to their members.

Re: FICO vs FAKO

I figured as much. Thanks a lot for confirming! Makes me really happy with where I am at score wise 1 year post discharge. I did not find these wonderful forums until this August, so I'm just relieved I did not blow it too much before then!
