Hey folks,
About to file bk in NC. I have cc debts that I will list in the bk with a major bank in NC, am also an employee of same bank. I am concerned about my paychecks going forward and what little cash I have in there. I found an article in this site that recommends closing account and open elsewhere.

If I leave my checking acct with same bank/creditor.... can they withhold my paychecks going forward? My biweekly paycheck is direct deposted to this acct.
Should I just close out checking acct there and open at new bank?
Thanks.
Unfortunately, the link posted was a commercial referral site for BK attorneys, which isn't allowed on these forums. - llecs, myFICO moderator
Have you considered all options to pay off and close the cc that is affiliated with your employer before filing BK?
I have considered/weighed all options. Regretfully paying off the employer cc debt is not financially feasible... Not sure what the consequences are to file bk and include employer cc debt in the filing.
What is your opinion on whether I should close or leave open my checking account with the bank employer? Paychecks are direct deposited.
According to the link I attached the article states to close out the checking/savings accounts.
If it were me, I would redirect my paychecks to another checking account immediately.
My main concern is that they (your employer) will be certainly be notified of the BK and will be included in it.
Every application for banking positions that I've seen (and I've only seen a few) specifically preclude employment if you've filed BK.
Perhaps someone has experience with this, and can chime in.
Well that's what I don't get! What does it matter where I deposit my paycheck... bc PAYROLL IS COMING FROM EMPLOYER/CREDITOR.... who happens to be A BANK!
Does it matter if I redirect payroll to competing bank or credit unions.. when the bank/employer/creditor can just withhold $$ from payroll.
Know what I mean?
I wasn't aware of the fact that they could withhold from payroll if they are notified that you're filing BK.
My understanding is that some cc's can take funds from checking/other accounts if they choose.
Maybe someone with more knowledge than I have can post some helpful info for you.
