Filed Chapter 7 in March 2002 and it's about to fall off, right??

I filed Chapter 7 in March 2002.  After reading the discussion boards, I have learned that my actual bankruptcy will be off in March 2012, but my charge offs (included in the BK) will be off in March 2009.

Does this happen automatically?  Do I need to call the individual credit scoring companies myself?  Write a letter, etc.?

Your advice is very much appreciated.

The c/o's should fall off 7-7.5 years after the dofd.  You'll need to check those dates to determine the fall off date.  Some may fall off automatically and some you might have to issue a "friendly reminder".

i filed my bankruptcy in june 2009.  It will be ten years this June.  will my credit score go up as this drops off?  it is the only derogatory item on my report.

I would think the score should go up but on these forums I've read about people seeing an increase after the BK falls off and I've also seen posts about scores dropping because they are "re-classed" or "re-grouped" after the bk falls off.  You could do a search on the bk forum for drop-off or fall-off and score changes.  Everyone's scores are figured so differently so it is so hard to say if your score will increase or decease.  You most likely would see some sort of increase though I would think, especially if its the only derog you have.
