Fingerhut circles

I opened a Fingerhut and was approved for the ‘fresh start’ program. I bought an overpriced item that I didn’t need and paid way too much on shipping this item I didn’t need just to get started. It took them forever to send it, and forever to bill me for it. As soon as they billed me, I paid off the bill entirely. As I understand the rules... as long as I’ve paid the balance according to the terms of the agreement with no lates or return checks.... that would graduate me to the regular revolving credit with them. I was sure to check if paying early would be an issue which I was assured was not. So here we are about 5 weeks after and I don’t have a new account and Fingerhut just keeps telling me they are escalating it internally. It’s driving me crazy to think this was a wasted transaction. If this an item I needed at a fair price, I’d chalk it up to a lesson... but if I overspent on an item I didn’t need with the false hope that I could start rebounding my credit... I’d have a huge issue with that. Anyone had a similar issue?

Re: Fingerhut circles

Don't look at it as false hope. Fingerhut reports monthly to the CRA's, and your main goal was just to get a positive account reporting quickly after BK.

Like you, I made one high priced buy, and then I never bought anything again. It continued to report, and I closed it 6 months later.

You just need 3 new positive accounts to get started and reporting. I had Cap1, Commerce Bank secured, and FH day of discharge, and of course things escalated very quickly for me. Don't worry, you won't be stuck in FH hell for long.

The goal was just a positive account, and you've done that.

How did you do that? It keeps telling me that you have a min order of $50?

Still dealing with Fingerhut... ridiculous.. but I did get an auto limit increase with Credit one.. barely had the account 5 weeks! I’m up to $650... pretty exciting stuff.
