I don't have an answer for you. However, for your reading pleasure. https://ficoforums.myfico.com/t5/Bankruptcy/HOW-TO-From-BK7-discharge-to-700-in-24-months-or-less/td...

After my Chapter 13 discharge a year ago, I jumped the gun and started applying right away, and got hit with a 100% denial rate.  Six weeks later I applied again and was approved for a Secured Platinum card from CapitalOne.  I have since read 45 to 90 days is the recommended wait time before applying.

The next question you need to ask yourself is, what do you want to apply for?  A secured card is easiest to get.  The second easiest is an unsecured card with lots of fees and such, some annual, some monthly, and some with both!  Then there are the unsecured offerings with no fees, some even with rewards, but those are hard to come by during your first six months following your discharge.

Chapter 13:

  • Burned: AMEX, Chase, Citi, Wells Fargo, and South County Bank (now Bank of Southern California)
  • Filed: 26-Feb-2015
  • MoC: 01-Mar-2015
  • 1st Payment (posted): 23-Mar-2015
  • Last Payment (posted): 07-Feb-2020
  • Discharged: 04-Mar-2020
  • Closed: 23-Jun-2020

I categorically refuse to do AZEO!

Re: How long?

I applied for Capital One Platinum the day I received my discharge of chapter 7. Approved $300 limit with CL increase after 3 months of paying on time.

Re: How long?

While waiting... perhaps do some plotting and planning?

Do you bank at a bank? Perhaps fund your Roth IRA there and increase your savings in the meantime.

Secondarily, if you haven't burnt them, how's your relationship with the CU's? Belong to any yet? Perhaps research a few. See where you can join. Do. Pop $300 in Savings in each when you can.

Perhaps OpenSky to start with their no HP. But I do NOT know about their policy post BK. 🙏🏻

Pull your credit reports first to make sure everything is reporting correct. I waited a few months to give time for things to update.
