Update: Guyatthebeach and Tygerhawke

I applied for the cc on saturday and got my approval today, 1k. So grateful for getting in and a cc!! Smiley Happy The CLOC said I needed to be a member for 90 days I guess, should I recon that or is that rule? I think I'll let everything grow for several months now, Yay!! Thanks you guys sooooo much.

Good rule of thumb here would be to use your CC as a point of reference - once you qualify for a nice high limit on the CC, you probably qualify for the CLOC.  Lately people have had to wait a full 6 months before getting a CLI, so...in this instance although we got there different ways, I agree with guyatthebeach on the timing  Smiley Happy

I'm going to have to ask about this and a couple of other things the next time I'm in my local branch. I've heard a bunch of people have had to wait for the CLOC and aren't getting all the free perks of the free checking account.

What perks are these?  I don't think I have any perks.

Must not be in the cards for me.  I tried joining today and I keep getting "There was a problem with your submission"..... It doesn't seem to be taking my credit card.  Idk why. Smiley Sad

If you are referring to the Navy League website, give them a call.

Originally when I joined NFCU last June, I got free checks. I know 2 people that didn't.

I'm also having problems with the free ATMs. The last couple I went to were listed on the website but I still got charged the ATM fees.

I never knew there were free checks, much less received any.  In fact I just paid $11 to have checks printed for my account (figured it would be nice to have just in case I might want/need to access the CLOC)

as for ATM fees I stick to my local CU shared branch ATM's and I'm good

Quick update to this - I was just able to order a 25-pack of NavCheks for the CLOC at no cost, but they want $18.67 for the most basic checks on the checking acct (I buy my checks from Walmart Checks on the cheap, which is how I got away with $11)

Re: How to join NCFU and rebuild as a civilian the right way

I just signed up the middle of March and they gave me free checks. I got them before my check card. No problems with fees on the latter (not yet anyway).

Re: How to join NCFU and rebuild as a civilian the right way

So I checked my account this morning and the website was definitely having problems.  I was charged 4 times for the membership but it looks like they are reversing 3 of the additional charges.  The only thing is I was under the impression that I would receive an email confirmation and I received nothing.  Does the email typically come in minutes, days, weeks?
