KOHLS survived Ch.7, even though CapOne burned.

Just a data point i guess.

I burned CapOne for over $30k.  My KOHLS card, which is backed by CapOne, has thus far survived....14 days post DC.

I know the consensus is to close any $0 balance cards before filing.  But I did not.

It's got over 3 yrs of age and a $3000 limit.(the max).  That card being open, and student loans still in deferrment, should give me a headstart in rebuilding.

You got lucky! Since you are DC it is ok to use and helps with your rebuild.

The best way to find out is to try and use it, and see what happens. That would great if it survived BK!

Re: KOHLS survived Ch.7, even though CapOne burned.

Well, i went to KOHLS yesterday to try the card out.  I called the CS number on the card first and it was active.  Also my online acct  was still alive.

Spent $21.xx on it.  And i must tell you, i felt guilty....as if i had been sober for 20 yrs and was taking my lst drink again.  Smiley Sad

(I really  did stop drinking almost 13 yrs ago though Smiley Happy )

So, i'm going to pay the bill right now.  The last thing i want is a balance to report.  Hopefully statement cut date wasn't last night.

I burned CapOne for over $30k.....and in a sense, they already let me back in by not closing the KOHLS.  I realize it could be closed at anytime though and won't be surprised if they do.

Same here.  Burned Cap 1 pretty bad and a few others for about $130k unsecured.  Kohls remained, and we used it once.  Today Discover gave me $7000 limit only 1 year after discharge.  I'm sure the Kohls card helped build it back quickly.
