Midwest Recovery Systems

Out of the blue I got an alert today on MyFICO a collection was placed on my Experian report from Midwest Recovery Systems. I do not know who these people are. I never recieved anything from them by mail about his pay day loan debt. Which I have never done before. It says I owe $655.00 on MyFICO. I will contact my lawyer on Monday. I have filed a complaint so far with the BBB and CFPB, and disputed it on Experian. I have no collections on my credit report until now.

Kicker is I was BK Chap7 DC'ed last year 11/15. And these people pull this stunt? I get a few of those scam calls about old payday loans I owe that I have never done before. I tell them all I am post discharge and I never had a payday loan. Have a nice day. Any other ideas folks?

Re: Midwest Recovery Systems

anybody? The BBB is loaded with complaints that this company never contacts anyone before placing a collection account on a CRA report.

Re: Midwest Recovery Systems- Update

That was quick. One day after filing with the CFPB:

Company responded
Midwest Recovery Systems said:
Explanation of closure

Our bankruptcy policy is once we have been notified of a bankruptcy we get as much information including case number, attorney, chapter, and any other information possible. We immediately stop all collection efforts and send a record for deletion to all three credit reporting agencies. At that time we close and return the account as a bankruptcy to our client.

Yeah right. They never contacted me about anything, by phone, mail, nothing!. Just add a collection to my report on Experian.

Thanks for no responces. Hope this helps someone who has to deal with the same issue..

Re: Midwest Recovery Systems- Update

Hopefully your attorney can get it removed. They needed to have sent you a letter giving you 30 days to dispute the charge prior to it being placed on your credit report so you have time to dispute it. If they didn't and can't show proof that you did get the letter you could most likely get it removed. Most likely they placed it in hopes that you would just pay it. Maybe you can just sue them and get some money in your pocket Smiley Happy

I'm meeting an attorney tomorrow to discuss incorrect credit reporting myself!

I gave my lawyer everything he needed today. If they do not fix my reports. Then we will sue. They got a set of balls to file a collection on anyones report without any notice to the consumer. Thank God I have MyFICO 3B monitoring. My lawyer said keep him updated. I had no collections. Averaged 35-41 points taken from me. So we'll see what happens. Thanks guys!

Wish you the best! I get at least 3-4 calls a month from these zombie collectors. I record their voice mails and give them to my lawyer. So I have them saying all the threats and so on. Breaking the law like you wouldnt believe. Love the press charges and go to jail voice mails. Never give their name or say this call is an attempt to collect a debt. Get this:

Someonce called left a voice mail. I called the number, it was a fax. Did a reverse look up. It came from a fax machine at a county courthouse. I helped them get one of their employees fired. And they brought charges against him. Working for collection on the side and looking up poeples court records. Unreal.......

OH MAN! That is rediculous. I've done collections for 12 years now, and I have personally seen some shady stuff. I just wouldn't ever think a courthouse employee would do stuff like that. I have a voicemail from the company I want to sue where the girl flat out says that I have to pay/reaffirm my debt with them, or I need to give my item back before they update my credit report. I'm like 1st off both of those are basically threats, and you can't demand I pay the bill or give anything back before you update my credit.

Re: Midwest Recovery Systems- Update

After 3 days of waiting. I went back on the CFPB case page and disputed that this company has not deleted the collections from all 3 CRA's as promised. After finding out the so called companys name they listed as the creditor on CRA's. I researched and found out on the BBB page. There was an alert, and this company wasn't in business since 2013. So they're trying to collect on a debt from a closed company? Really? How low can you go! And Midwest's collection license in FL expired in 2013. Smiley Mad

Three hours later. Ching. My FICO alerts. All collections gone. Scores back up from 33 to 36 points. Glad its over. Unfreakinbelievable. Smiley Very Happy
