Many people consider Navy Federal's secured card the best:
- Rewards the equivalant of 1% back
- No annual fee
- Card can graduate (usually after 1 year, but for some as early as 6 months)
- $500 minimum to start, and additional deposits can be made
Just saying...
You should try capital one’s prequalification site. I just filed bankruptcy in November (2017) and I had 3 cap one cards included in my bankruptcy. I just got my discharge this week but I was able to get a cap one card (unsecured) about 3 weeks ago. Good luck on your journey!!
I've had the Navy Federal secured card for several months. Discharged in September and got it in November. I have not had any issues with it and I like the fact that I earn reward points. Next month I plan to up the limit to $1,000. Currently have it at $500. I pay my cell phone and electric bill with it and then pay it off. I can't say anything bad about the card.
I think I am going to go ahead and get Navy's secured just to get in with them and hope to be graduated. I got creditone unsecure to start and help build my credit.
@ptkdudewrote:Just a heads up that I've heard Wells Fargo will freeze your bank account when you file. My attorney told me if I had any money there to get it out before I filed. Since you have a credit card with them, they WILL find out you filed.
Upon filing an automatic stay takes effect, NO ONE may take any action against you without first getting an order from the Bankruptcy Court relieved them from the stay. I would think that if Wells Fargo, or any bank, would take any kind of action, including freezing your account, that would violate the stay and the law. Everything I read in preparation for my BK (did it pro se) said Courts don't like that.
