I have a $6k limit Dell card that accidentally survived my BK7 because I never use it and forgot it existed. For some reason, they didn't close the account. I was able to buy a new laptop using it in February.
My question: Do I need to regularly use the card to keep that relatively high limit visible in my credit mix and to beget other higher ljmits? If I do, how often? The cheapest item on their site are $11.

- Yes. I got a Target store around 1 yr post BK7 dioscharge, in store promo & got $1k CL. But I rarely shop at Target and sock drawered it. After 10 months of no use they lowered the CL to $200. I used at least 1/mo for 4 mos after that but couldn't get them to raise the pultry $200 CL, so i closed it.
As your Dell card was issued pre BK it hels your average age of accounts, so worth keeping it active & open.
I don't know why it took me so long to figure this out, but I realized today that all my closed and IIB accounts are part of my AAoA. I have a Discover card from 1994 on my account as well and a bunch of other IIB or previously closed cards that were older than the Dell card. I've decided to ignore the Dell account unless I decide to use it in the future for an actual necessary purchase. It seems like it will be more important to maintain my current, rebuild cards, so I have some history when those old accounts do drop off.
