Hello all. My Ch7 was discharged on 11/05/20. Checked my fico scores today. Scores after BK are the following: EQ 553 EX 542 TU 482. I'm currently unemployed so my rebuild is on hold for now. However I decided to check the Cap One preapproval site. Stated that I was preapproved for the no AF platinum card. So I said "What the hell. I'll apply." Submitted the application. Received message that stated Good news, you're almost approved. I needed to send them a copy of my DL and SS card. Two hours later, received email that I was approved for $300. Wasn't much but it's a start to rebuild. Once I find a job, I'll apply for a SSL from Navy and possibly a secured card.
Congrats on your discharge! Again, as many have posted in the past...It's a marathon, not a race. I understand all to well how eager one can get post-BK to reestablish. Making wise, concentrated, and well thought decisions should hopefully result in a financial picture that NEVER includes such things as BK, etc.
Best of luck in your rebuild...and more importantly becoming employed!

Congrats on the discharge and new card! To echo everyone, it definitely is a marathon to rebuild, but you're off to a great start. Good luck with your journey and on the job search!
never rush to apply for new cards! If you included certain creditors (AMEX, Chase, BoA, Discover, Citi, HSBC, etc) that it might take a while for them to welcome you back.
Congrats on first card post discharge. Best wishes,

Congrats on your discharge! and new first card.
One word of advice as a fellow BK7 DC member:
Research Research then Research again over & over repeatedly before simply jumping at first, second, third etc offers
30 Days Post Discharge. Well, alot has changed since I posted this. I had worked on a project for two weeks that provided much needed income. During that time, I was able to open a secured card with Navy for $300 and an SSL for $3010. Once the funds were transferred to my checking account, I immediately paid the loan amount to show a balance of $267.89. My due date for my next payment is now dated for 04/27/25 for $22.55. Now I'm going to garden for six months and apply for a third card.
UPDATE: 3 months post discharge. Well I obtained a secure card from State Dept FCU to add to my other cards(see siggy). I also had to dispute several inaccurate entries on TU which were corrected. My fico 8 scores are: EX 656, EQ 670 and TU 629. Fico 9 scores are: EX 717, EQ 724 and TU 727. Just like the theme song from The Jeffersons, "Well I'm moving on up!" Still got a ways to go but the early results are promising.
Ncogngro,
Congratulations! You are definitely on the right track and you have three solid secured cards to use as your foundation.
NFCU is great for large lines of credit and SDFCU is excellent with lower rates and preapprovals. They also have a great recon process that offer CU's don't. Let those accounts age and build some excellent payment history. Try to pay SDFCU every month. When you NFCU card becomes unsecured or after the 13th statement cuts (which ever comes first), apply at SDCFU for the platinum rewards card. It has underwriting requirements that are easier to meet than the premium cash back card. If it get denied, ask for a recon. SFCU has a recon committee that reviews recons. After years of solid growth my card has 26k limit with a 8.9% APR(second lowest APR) at SDFCU. I think after the first year, I started getting preapproval checks.
Treat Navy and State Department FCU right, they will definitely treat you right.

Six month post D/C update:
Well, I'm now six months post d/c. So far things are continuing to look up. In the past three months, I've been approved for the following cards: Ollo rewards MC - 2500, Mercury rewards MC - 750 and the biggest prize so far Penfed Visa Gold - 7500. Also, not major but I received a whopping $100 cli on my Cap1 platinum card which I upgraded to the quicksilver 1.5% cashback. My current fico 8 scores as of today: EX - 664, EQ - 686, TU - 647. Will give updated status in November which will be one year post d/c. Hopefully at that time I'll be able to obtain another Navy card.
