.....and that response is exactly why TransUnion switched to them. It’s a legal loophole. Since they are nota CRA the CRA laws don’t apply to them in the same way. It will be years before the laws will catch up to include them.

To whom it may concern,
We have received your request for a consumer report and/or credit freeze. LCI is not a Consumer Reporting Agency as defined by the Fair Credit Reporting Act. We do not hold/process/etc. “Consumer Reports” and therefore cannot provide the information requested.
As a courtesy, for your reference we have attached a copy of the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA) and information on how you may request a credit freeze.
If you have any additional questions or concerns, please let us know.
Best Regards.
Sounds like a generic response as an attempt to scare me off. I just sent a complaint to the CFPB, let’s see how this goes. Lol
This is what I got as well (from [Mod edit: Only names of public figures allowed. - KiB]).
I'll send a complaint, too.
That’s interesting. Must be a small office, this “[Mod edit: Only names of public figures allowed. - KiB]” was the person who sent me the response email.
Interestingly, I woke up to a new email from privacy@lciinc.com this morning:
Hello,
We have received your request to freeze your credit and/or to opt out of any credit reporting that LCI may control. We are researching the opt-out request and will respond with more information.
If you would like to freeze your credit, please contact all three of the nationwide credit reporting agencies – Equifax, Experian, and TransUnion – to request a credit freeze.
Thank you.
Maybe the complaints have worked?
