Vehicles NOT Reaffirmed, But Paid In Full—Remove From Credit Report?

I indicated that I wanted to reaffirm 3 vehicles during my BK filing, responded affirmatively that I wanted to reaffirm them during the creditors meeting when asked by the Trustee, but my lawyer dropped the ball and didn't file and I realized this too late...did not want to risk a motion to vacate my discharge to get them in after the discharge.

Long story short, I have paid one of the three off and about to pay a second one off; the creditors won't change the status on my credit report, of course, but how about asking them to remove it altogether? Wouldn't one less derogatory improve score over the long run? Given that no payment history is being shown, I would to have them removed if possible.

Maybe call and plead my case? Smiley Happy

I would not waste time trying to get IIBs changed to paid as agreed or removed, if they say IIB with no payment history just let them go. Concentrate on rebuilding your profile post BK.

Wow...what a lousy attorney!

There is no harm in asking the creditor nicely to delete and tell them it was your intention to reaffirm but that you knucklehead attorney failed you. Maybe off the payment in exchange for deletion given that you no longer have any responsibility for the discharged debt. Good luck with your efforts.

The EXACT same thing happend to me.  My Attorney did not reaffirm my car loan with only 3 payments remaining.  So this tradeline is reporting as IIB.  I called the bank and they cannot change it due to Federal Bankruptcy Laws.  The only recourse is to get the bank to change the FDOD and let it age off.

However all accounts that are IIB does not affecct scoring 2 years post discharge.  So tradelines that are IIB actually HELP your score by adding to the AAOA (assuming the tradeline is older than the AAOA).

Red is false.

IIB TL's affect your score as long as they are on your CR... which is why people see score increases when said accounts age off.  The impact on your score lessens as the derog ages until it falls off your CR but score is still affected the entire time the derog is on your CR.

Blue is correct... all accounts affect AAoA whether they are IIB or PAA.  The AAoA is the Average Age of Account...  IIB or PAA makes no difference.

Do you have a FICO source for that? I'd like to read it.

So would I.

Based on previous posts the source is an Experian customer service rep.  Smiley Wink
