What about the bills that keep charging/adding after the filing date?

I included my divorce lawyer, as well as a city utility/water company, in my chapter 7 filing on March 28th.

Despite my telling my lawyer 2x to drop my case, she cont. stating the judge would not allow her to drop me until the case was complete... so between the filing date and the present time, I now have another $1,500 bill from "my" attorney, in addition to the $10k owed which was before I filed BK.

I own two vacant homes with my ex and included utility/tax bills on the homes in the filing.. but those bills also now continue to rack up (due to grass needing to be cut, taxes etc)

My meeting of creditor is the beginning of June and expected BK completed to be the end of August.

Will I be responsible for the bills I racked up after the filing date?

thanks!

Yup you are on the hook for anything post BK petition. If the bills that are racking up will be a problem you might want to consider dismissing the BK and refiling at a later date. If the judge wont let your lawyer out there isnt much you can do but pay... Wish I had better news for you Smiley Happy

YES.
