uuuuuuuuugggggggggggggghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh...how can they do this???

So UPSET!!!! I just received a notice from MyFico stating that three collections were added to my credit report. When I looked at the alert it is from three collections that were included in my bankruptcy last year and were medical collections from 2010. They were turned over to this new agency Northeast Credit and Collection and they put it on my report so now it shows as three new collections. I have emailed my attorney but am wondering if anyone has had this happen to them and, if so, how did you handle it? It doesn't seem legal. I was finally seeing great progress with my score and report, now this. #feelingfrustrated

Just call the new collection agency then fax in your discharge paperwork as necessary.  These things happen (automated processing), it shouldn't be a big deal unless you're in the middle of apping for a mortgage.  No laws are violated unless they refuse to correct, then they'll be compelled to correct by the courts and you'll get free money.

Usually can be taken care of in about 72 hours fairly painlessly.

Good luck,

Re: uuuuuuuuugggggggggggggghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh...how can they do this???

Thank you! I called several times last week and they kept telling me a supervisor would have to request the removal and everytime they transferred me I got the supervisor's voicemail. Finally, called again just now and they said that they have put in for the removal yesterday and it should be coming off my report immediately if it hasn't already been removed. It is still showing on MyFico but hopefully I will get the alert soon saying it has been removed! Thanks again for the advice!

Re: uuuuuuuuugggggggggggggghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh...how can they do this???

Just an update....these are still on my credit reports. I have called again to follow-up and now they are telling me it will be 30-45 days before I see it come off my reports. So frustrating when I work so hard to rebuild and then something like this happens to knock me down for two months. My positive for the day is that I was finally able to get in with NFCU last week! Hurray! Due to the issues mentioned above with the collections, I am going to hold off until those items have been removed before app'ing for anything from NFCU. I am learning patience, that's for sure Smiley Happy

Re: uuuuuuuuugggggggggggggghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh...how can they do this???

I had 3 appear post-BK a while back (2 different JDBs.) I sent a stern but factual letter demanding they be removed immediately, I faxed the letter, emailed it to every exec. I could find an addy for, sent a copy CMMR, and called. In the letters I itemized the violations, and added if they were not removed ASAP, I would be filing complaints with the state attorney general, the BBB, the CFPB. I also included my BK attorney's name and phone number. They were removed in about 48 hours.
