AMEX Delta Platinum Business approval

short story:

Delta Platinum Business SL $10k

Long story:

for 3-4 months I've been getting notifications about the enhanced Delta offers.  I already have 5 business credit cards, it's totally unnecessary and if I had to do it all over again, I would have opened an account with Chase and tried to build towards the CIP for the 3x general travel category.  So yeah, first two offers I just ignored even though they were historically pretty sweet.

But now that the offer on the 2 'premium' cards was 80,000 skypesos, plus the original 5,000 MQMs AND 0% APR for 6 months - I had to at least give it a try.

I'm about to take a Delta flight again in August and could use the free checked bag credit being attached to my SkyMiles account.  It's nice that you don't have to actually use the card.  This is a business card and I'm taking a 85% personal trip with family that is also booked economy.

So I'll get the free checked bags and be able to pay with a personal card.

Anyone else reviewing their Delta value-props?

I haven't seen too many posts about Delta cards so I'm guessing the rest of the community isn't too hyped for these offers.  I realize this is "myFico" but I do wish there were more conversations about real life benefits.  There are plenty of really sharp members here.   And so many of us go way farther than necessary to rebuild or build stronger.  Right?  we could totally rebuild with like 5 cards, have a decent wallet and still get close to 800 with the right behavior I think.  I'm guilty of it, when originally I was so determined to get cash back.  I finally got it but then I shifted to rewards once I was in the door.....and I have more than one absolutely needs.  I'm probably a fool for holding onto 100K AAdvantage miles, 200k MR, 200k UR, 200k Hilton, etc.

About to cash in some points this summer and am genuinely interested in hearing earning/redeeming stories from you guys instead of the frickin' points guy.

anyway, I know I'm really going off-course here, and now that I think about it I probably should have put this in the business category, my bad.

but seriously, I love reading the stories about people who rebuilt and then got their mortgage or car or something where the credit management manifested in a tangible, real-life earning.  I just wish there was more of that.

Re: AMEX Delta Platinum Business approval

I just got the personal card with a not-quite-so-nice bonus (75k + $100 for $3k spend). I do eventually want another Amex business card, but in the long run a second BBP might make more sense.

I don't have status with Delta, so the free bags (and companion pass) should be well worth $195.

Personal spend: Amex Gold, Amex Schwab Plat., BofA PR+CCR(x2), Costco
Business use: Amex Bus. Plat., BBP, Lowes Amex AU, CFU AU
Perks: Delta Plat., United Explorer, IHG49, Hyatt, "Old SPG"
Mostly SD: Freedom Flex, Freedom, Arrival
Upgrade/Downgrade games: ED, BCE
SUB chasing: AA Platinum Select

hi wasCB14,

I've read a handful of your posts so it's nice to engage with you.  Thanks for replying.

2nd BBP???  Didn't realize AMEX would allow you to have 2 of that card.  Unless it's for a 2nd, separate business from the 1st?  or maybe you surpass the $50k spending threshold?

I exceeded it in 2018 and will exceed it in 2019. A lot of that was estimated taxes on capital gains (which probably won't recur soon, so maybe I'll stay under $50k in 2020). Apart from that, I use it for professional/regulatory fees as an accountant (using my own SSN and not a separate business tax ID). CFU is also good for tax payments.

A second BBP would be for a real estate business with a separate tax ID. It involves a not-yet-settled inheritance and a number of details still need to be worked out, so I decided it was too early in the process to get a second business card.
