Do Merchant Accounts On Your Personal Credit Come Up On Your History?

Hey Guys,

A little bit of an odd question on this one.  If you have a merchant account for accepting credit cards for your business, does this come up in your credit history?  I was looking at changing processors and one company said nope, it doesn't, but they still need my credit score for a "risk assessment".  Is this true or are they spinning me a line?

Not an odd question at all, scottiedog...in fact, I had that exact same question when I opened my first merchant account.

The merchant account processor will run your personal credit, and it will show up as an inquiry on your personal reports.  It did for me, but it did not show up as a new account or tradeline on either my personal or business credit reports (I'm an LLC).

They aren't spinning a line for you, scottiedog...the inquiry on personal credit is legit.
